Purpose of Research
○Due to demographic changes such as low birth rates, an aging population, and an increase in single-person households, as well as growth in the national economy, the scale of pet ownership is expanding. Consequently, the pet-related industry is attracting attention as a new growth industry. However, there is a lack of data collection on the domestic pet industry, necessitating reliance on data produced overseas for the industry analysis. This underscores the need to establish a data collection system for the pet industry and related industries. This study reviewed statistics and survey systems related to pets, and surveyed the current state of domestic pet ownership and the pet-related industry. Based on these findings, it proposes a plan to establish a reliable survey system for the pet-related industry.
